Many people think network security is a technical problem, and to some extent, it is. However, the things people do and don’t do cause more security risks than not having the latest technology. These threats are called target attacks, such as phishing attacks (which are emails that look real but instead take you to fake Web sites) or ransomware (software apps that appear to be useful but actually lock your computer and demand a payment to unlock it). Therefore, network management is as much a people management issue as it is a technology management issue.
Education is key for protecting your business. Educate you and your staff about the risks of opening documents or emails that are not expected, or seem fishy. Ransomware criminals are smart and can make some emails resemble invoices or important documents that you think you must open. Just one click and your business is in serious trouble.
