Chipotle is providing information regarding the payment security incident that was previously reported April 25, 2017. The investigation involved security firms, law enforcement, and the payment card networks.
Between March 24, 2017 and April 18, 2017 malware designed to access payment card data from cards used on point-of-sale (POS) devices at certain Chipotle locations was identified. The malware searched for track data that was read from the magnetic strip of the payment card as it is routed through the POS device. The track data contains the cardholders name, the card number, expiration date, and internal code.

Malware involving the fraud of credit cards can happen anywhere. It is important to review your payment statements and transactions for any unauthorized activity.
